What Does The Theory of Evolution State?
What Does The Theory of Evolution State?
Most of us have been taught the theory of evolution since we were in grade school. So what does the theory of evolution state?
TextbooksIt basically states that all life came about accidentally (by spontaneous generation) and then organisms and creatures improved into new kinds of creatures. According to the theory this process took hundreds of millions of years (once the earth had cooled long enough to support life).
Is there anything wrong with this idea? Yes. There are numerous scientific problems.
Humans have never witnessed or even figured out how to start any kind of life. In fact, the very conditions needed to begin the simplest building blocks of life ( such as amino acids), would destroy life. That's right. The very conditions that are needed to even build minute building blocks of living organisms would end all life.
Then we look at the possibility of life coming together.
The probability that life could 'come together accidentally' is infinitesimal. So small is the likelihood, in fact, that it could never happen in billions of billions of years, much less a half billion years. Mathematicians have agreed that the probability is so small for the parts of a cell to be formed accidentally... that it could never occur, ever. It does not really matter length of time for it to occur.
Next is the fact that the fossil record supports other theories (like creationism) much better than evolution does. Why? Because all of the fossils that should be available to show the steps of evolution are missing. That is not to say that there are not fossils used to 'show evolution', such as the horse and the whale, but the problems with these two examples are massive.
The fact is that the fossil record is missing the very fossils needed to show that evolution is even possible (intermediate fossils).
And then the problem arises that there is no evolution occurring today. If evolution were occurring over the last few million years, why is none taking place today? There does not even seem to be a hint of it. (Evolution being defined as changes that lead to new and improved kinds of organisms and creatures.)
So, if there is no possible way for evolution to begin, the fossil evidence does not show that it ever occurred and there is no evidence of evolution occurring today, what evidence is there to back up the theory?
These were just three or four problems with the theory of evolution. There are literally dozens more. Most of what I was taught in school about the theory has been proven wrong... decades ago (Yet these same 'facts' and illustrations are still in our children's textbooks today).
There have been numerous scientific discoveries over the last number of years. It seems that these discoveries are not being kind to the theory of evolution. For those that look beneath the surface (of the textbooks and nature shows) evolution has some extremely serious problems. At this point in time, unless scientists can come up with some answers, evolution is more of a religion than science.
